About Our Client
Speed Queen is a family owned import/distribution company that has enjoyed strong growth over the last 5 years. Sales of equipment/machinery into verticals including aged/healthcare, hospitality, and government sectors throughout New Zealand are key touch points.
Sales are a mix of resellers and direct, including some products that are sold through retailers, although most revenue is from business to business commercial sales. A typical sale is between $5,000 and $50,000 with some opportunities over $300,000. The brand is the undisputed global leader in volume, with an extremely strong reputation for quality and reliability.
The owners/Directors recently took ownership of several other businesses (in NZ and Australia) This has led to the decision to appoint a sales manager for this business to increase the management capability and capacity across the group.
Reporting to the Director, you will be responsible for revenue and margin goals and after sales service of commercial grade laundry equipment. You will lead an experienced team of 3 people, whilst taking direct responsibility for large corporate clients.
You will tap into the enormous potential and continue their growth by leveraging off your exisitng ability to lead, motivate and mentor a team to improve customer service and win rates, develop strategies to increase new leads, close rates and customer referrals. Present and sell company products and services to new and existing customers. Being comfortable in front of people and preparing presentations, proposals and sales contracts that both meet customers' needs and achieve company objectives is something you do on a daily basis at present.
You have a stong understanding of logisitcs which includes organizing travel within allocated budget to ensure appropriate coverage of customer base as well as having an ability to Identify and resolve customer concerns, including post sale customer service if needed. You wil ultimately be responsible for ensuring parts and equipment is delivered as required for the relevant equipment projects. You also thrive on managing sales forecasts by product, as a key input into stock purchasing will sit within your remit.
The Successful Applicant
- Experience leading a sales team
- Experience selling to tender/RFP opportunities. This is typically not account management - it is selling to a current problem/need
- Can quickly build relationships with people from all backgrounds and ethnicity's in B2B environments
- Demonstrable record of creating winning proposals for commercial machinery sales
- Strong technical understanding
- Attention to detail - mistakes can lead to expensive installs/replacing product
- Willing to help with anything. This isn't a corporate role
- Willing to travel. Whilst not a core part of the role - approx. 1 week every 2 months will be out of Auckland
- Highly computer literate
- Down to earth, practical
