When did you start at HSBC?
I started at HSBC in January 2005.
What was your background prior to joining HSBC?
I was a Pricing Analyst in the Investment Control division at MLC, and prior to that I worked in a similar role within custody.
What attracted you to joining HSBC and the Future Leaders Programme?
Given the fast tracked nature of the programme, I knew there would be opportunity for ongoing career progression. I was also attracted by the global recognition of the HSBC brand and the opportunities that it will bring working for a global leader.
What are your key achievements since joining?
I started as a Relationship Executive in the Corporate Banking division, working closely with the Senior Relationship Managers in marketing to prospective large corporate clients, cross-selling and winning new deals from existing clients. Some of the significant deals I was involved with included a A$1.07 bn Syndicated Facility providing acquisition financing for our client, as well as a cross-border transaction working together with our Canadian and US colleagues.
I was also selected to be a member of the Diversity Committee, which is chaired by our CEO, Stuart Davis. Our main goal is to have a greater representation of women at the senior level of HSBC and introduce more flexible work practices. Some of the new initiatives we have implemented include doubling the amount of paid parental leave and dedicated networking functions for women across the bank.
How has the Future Leaders Programme been beneficial to you?
One of the main benefits of the programme has been the access to senior management and executives who have been very supportive and willing to share their
experiences.
The structured training programme offered to the future leaders covers a diverse range of courses from leadership courses and project management, to building a business.
In addition to the technical skills I have learnt on the job, it has given me an opportunity to develop my skill set in areas that are important for business leaders. |
